PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 13, 2026
Overview
Gonchat is a privacy-first, ephemeral messaging service operated by DinDon Digital Labs LLC ("Gonchat", "we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We built Gonchat to collect as little as possible, and content is designed to disappear automatically.
Information we collect
• Account data: your email address and chosen username. • Optional profile data: profile photos, a short status, and a custom display name, only if you add them. • Content: messages, media (photos, video, audio) and statuses you send. Messages are encrypted in transit and are designed to self-destruct automatically; media is stored temporarily and deleted on expiry. • Connect data (only if you opt in): if you turn on "Appear in Connect", the profile photo and the details you choose to provide (country, age, gender, status and an optional tag) become visible to other users so you can meet people. See the "Connect" section below. • Technical data: basic device/log information needed to operate and secure the Service. We do not sell your personal data.
How we use your information
We use your information only to provide and secure the Service: to create your account, deliver and expire messages and media, process payments, prevent abuse, and comply with the law. We do not use your content for advertising.
Account security
To keep Gonchat a safe place for everyone, and to help protect your account and prevent spam, abuse and other violations of our Terms, we may collect metadata such as your IP address, the devices and browsers you've used, and your access dates and times. When collected, this metadata is kept for a maximum of 12 months.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party providers who process data solely on our behalf and strictly to operate the Service, including cloud infrastructure and hosting, a temporary media-storage provider, and a PCI-compliant payment processor for Gonchat Premium. These providers are bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. Payment card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and are never stored by us.
Legal requests
If we receive a valid request from the competent authorities confirming that a user is the subject of an investigation relating to activities that violate our Terms or applicable law, we will conduct a legal review of the request and may disclose relevant data, such as an IP address, to those authorities, to the extent required by law.
Bot and abuse protection
To protect account creation and sign-in from automated abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving verification service that runs silently in the background without visible challenges. Turnstile processes limited technical data (such as an IP address) solely to tell humans apart from automated bots. Cloudflare's handling of this data is described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum (https://www.cloudflare.com/turnstile-privacy-policy/).
Ephemeral content and retention
Chats, media and statuses are designed to expire and be deleted automatically (for example, after 24 hours or once viewed). We keep account data (such as your email and username) for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your associated account data, subject to any retention required by law.
Connect
Connect lets you discover and start conversations with new people inside Gonchat, without sharing a phone number. It is strictly opt-in and turned off by default. You only appear in Connect if you turn on "Appear in Connect" in your profile. When you do, the profile photo and the details you choose to provide (country, age, gender, status and an optional tag) are shown to other users; your email is never shown. A greeting ("wave") simply starts a normal, encrypted chat. You can report or block anyone, and blocked users are added to your blocked list. You can leave Connect at any time from your profile, which immediately removes your Connect listing and story. Connect is intended for users aged 18 and over.
Local storage on your device
To make the app fast, some preferences and cached data (such as your language, theme, and message cache) are stored locally on your device and can be cleared by you at any time.
International users and your rights
Gonchat is operated from the United States and may be used from other countries, including the European Union. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing (for example, under the EU GDPR). To exercise these rights, contact us at support@gonchat.com.
Data security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption of message content in transit and private, access-controlled media storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to minimize what we hold and how long we hold it.
Children
Gonchat is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will revise the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
